The Big Lie of Color Season Analysis that you should know about

There's something they're not telling you about Seasonal Color Analysis. There is a hidden truth, and here I reveal to you exactly where that lie is that we've all believed.

color season lie

I like provocative titles, but I just couldn't call it anything else. This seems like a lie to me. Not because Seasonal Color Analysis doesn't work, but because there is one highly relevant aspect that most people overlook when choosing their colors to wear.

And that relevant aspect that all mankind lives with is this: no one dresses exclusively in the colors that, according to colorimetry, suit them.

We might think: “How ignorant, how is it possible that they don't choose the right colors! They dress wrong, they get it wrong” ( although well, we all get it wrong with colors from time to time).

I have further analyzed why most people tend to dress in colors that have nothing to do with their colorimetry (access here to my Color Analysis Ebook.

Let's start with the explanation of the discord!

Dressing according to our colorimetry involves choosing colors that harmonize with our features (such as hair, skin, eyes and eyebrows). This means that our clothes should complement our appearance rather than standing out more than our face.

Here's an example where we achieve harmony and our clothes don't outshine our face:

As you can see in the image, everything is in perfect harmony: the hair, the skin, the eyes, and the eyebrows. It's pure harmony.

But haven't you ever had a day when you decide to put on that white blouse or that red dress (even if they have nothing to do with your colorimetry) and you look amazing - you shine above all else (see the next image).

And you wonder: what's going on here, why do I look so good in colors that don't belong to my Color Season palette if there's no harmony between those colors and my face?

Here's the key (assuming you didn't make a mistake in determining your Color Season) - Check your Color Season with theColor Season Calculator in the shop or the Canva Color Season test- is the reason why many people choose colors that are not their own.

It's amazing to see how many people don't dress in the colors of their palette and still look radiant. And the amazing thing is that they dress in any color!

The trick is that colors that don't belong to our palette totally break the harmony, which can give a more fashionable look.

Why does this happen? Because there is a greater contrast between our face and the garment. By choosing colors that don't match our Color Season, we create a sharper contrast, which often results in a more striking look.

Here are some celebrities wearing colors that are not their season and still look fabulous:

This is the trick that many people use to look more fashionable. It works especially well with colors that are in your season, but just the opposite on the Color Season wheel. These are the accent colors, and if you use them throughout the look, instead of just in details like prints or accessories, you'll be breaking the mold like our beloved celebrities do.

Now, the choice is yours. We don't all have to dress in harmony with our colors; you can opt for the opposite colors. You just need to know your season and choose the opposite season to achieve that “Wow!” effect.

And you, what do you choose: your real harmony or the opposite?
