Kibbe Body Types Plus Size: how do they differ from non plus size?
Kibbe body types are all very different from each other. But these are based on silhouettes that are represented as no plus size. So what is the difference of this Kibbe body type scale with the Kibbe plus size body types? In this article I tell you more about this difference.

I wanted to write about this topic in the blog, since I have a particular way of seeing plus size body types in the kibbe body type theory, and that is how I express my interpretation in my Kibbe calculator and Kibbe body type guide.
I am aware that I always swim against the current of what has been established so far for the Kibbe theory, although I always keep the bases of body types to comply with the theory, but I go a little further due to the fact that There are things that seem to me to have no complete practical sense. Although I would like to emphasize that this is my opinion and my way of seeing the theory. Other people think differently, although this is something that happens around most of the existing theories.
In my theory of interpretation I am more permissive when I analyze the Kibbe body types regarding the parameters because not all the bodies comply 100% with any of the Kibbe types. And it is not that I am permissive in a random way, but that I am permissive but with the aim of having a foundation. So my interpretation of the Kibbe plus size body types is not random, it has a logic that I am going to explain to you now. It will help you to know what Kibbe body type you are.
When Kibbe talks about body types, he only refers to how they gain weight, in what parts of the body. This means that if you, for example, have a Flamboyant Natural body, as is my case, you will increase weight from the waist as specified by Kibbe.
What happens is that I don't gain weight at the waist (I gain weight but slightly and it's hardly noticeable in the width), but rather in the hips, which is where my width really increases. And this is because I am not a perfect Flamboyant Natural body type, I have a wider hip. Most of us do not fit perfectly with all the characteristics of a Kibbe body type, so you can gain weight in other areas than the ones indicated by the Kibbe as is my case.
My hips increase in width when I take more weight, but I am still a Natural Flamboyant because all the other characteristics of my body match this type of body, unquestionably because being tall, with wide shoulders (quite wide), little chest , wide jaw, elongated limbs, I can't get out of the higher body types on the scale, the only thing that doesn't fit me is the hip, but that's why I'm still this Kibbe body type.
I am explaining all this to let you know, that if you are a plus size person, and you want to know your Kibbe body type, you have to categorize yourself exactly the same as non-plus size body types, and not looking for what they are like Kibbe silhouettes when they gain weight, and this is because you will not change your body type even if you gain weight. This fact is 90% certain. You may change your Kibbe body type but this is almost impossible.
In my way of interpreting the Kibbe theory in which after a long time I have managed to make sense of it, I have realized that it is a game of coincidences. The more matches we have with a Kibbe body type, that will be our body type.
So, even if one or two characteristics don't match, we won't stop being that type of body in most cases. This means that if you increase your waist circumference in general, your body will also gain width in the shoulders and legs, albeit slightly, in the end the entire width of the body is modified, and even if it is the hip or waist where you gain the most perimeter, it will not distort the type of Kibbe body you have because it is only one zone and the rest of the zones continue to coincide with the characteristics of a Kibbe no plus size body.
But... what if your body shape changed a lot as you gained weight? Although I tell you 90% that your Kibbe body type will not change. I will tell you that if you change your Kibbe body type, then you will only have to adapt to the style guide of this new body type. Just do the test again.
In my case, as I gained weight, I would also have to grow my chest to be able to get closer to the other more feminine body types on the scale or simply move to another Kibbe body type. And if I slim down from the hips, I couldn't change to a Dramatic body type either, since my hips aren't as narrow and my shoulders are more rounded than on a Dramatic. I have no escape even if I tend to gain weight or lose it.
I hope you could understand with this reasoning that Kibbe plus size body types are the same as Kibbe no plus size body types. Then you don't have to worry, you can find your body type with the normal Kibbe tests, although I recommend my Kibbe body type calculator because it works with percentages about your body to find your kibbe body type, so there are no specific measurements of width, so it adapts to all body types.
However, for the traditional body shapes Oval, Pear, Apple, Rectangle, Inverted Triangle or Hourglass in the case of being plus size we will change from one shape to another when we are plus size and when we are not in the most cases.
And this is because traditional body shapes take into account shoulder, waist and hip width. So in the Kibbe theory many more parameters are taken into account, it is a different scale of bodies than the traditional one. So in the traditional it is more likely that you will change your body type if you become plus size.
Remember that if you like the traditional theory of body types and it is a bit difficult for you to understand the style of your body shape you have my body shape guide at your disposal to guide you through all garment shapes.
